Kathleen Sullivan Garman
Artist Statement
Kathleen Sullivan, LC Class of 1983 Ever since my time at LC I've been an artist. I received a degree in Art History from the University of Washington. I came back to Spokane in 1992 and have raised my family (5 kids) here along with my husband Sean Garman (LC class of 1987). We love to ski, hike, enjoy the lake and mountains and when we can get to warm water, we are avid scuba divers. My artwork can truly be described as "mixed media", I am an accomplished portraitist with graphite drawing in a photo-realistic style and in painting I use a blend of airbrush, paintbrush and pallet knives with textured acrylic. The piece in this art show, "Interlude" was inspired by hiking in the nature of the northwest and finding beauty in the silence. My second piece "Gilded Serenade" is in honor of my late father, Patrick Sullivan who was a jazz musician. After his passing we all started seeing butterflies and I'd like to think that when I see one, it's him sending his music to my heart". Kathleen Sullivan Garman M: 509.951.2290
